Last week, everything came together for a unforgettable tournament on the WPT: the Plaza Mayor of Valladolid, the bright sun and the public in effervescence! Despite the stifling heat, the event kept all its promises, offering spectators a memorable competition full of twists and surprises.
The “Coach Zorrus” gives us a recap of the tournament's strengths and weaknesses.
In the ladies, despite some major mistakes and a noticeable drop in speed from Delfi Brea, Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay had chances to win the final. However, several questions arise following the last tournaments: is Marta Ortega the weak link in the team? Is Gemma Triay as impactful as with Alejandra Salazar? Among the men, after a first set dominated by Tapia and Coello, everything pointed to another victory for the “invincibles”. But the “grinta” of Stupa and Di Nenno made it possible to turn the tide. While we thought the match was folded 4/1 in the third set for Tapia and Coello, a discussion between Stupa and Di Nenno changed everything, setting fire to the powder. And 45 minutes later, the two Argentinians became the “masters” of Valladolid!
