World Seniors Plus 2024 Open (F): flawless for the French, with a surprise!

Like their male counterparts, the players of the French women's team have perfectly succeeded in their entry into the 2024 Seniors Plus World Open!

Indeed, all the pairs who played last night won, sometimes with very quick victories as you will see below.

  • +50 years: Lambregts / Sorel beats Matsuo / Fukumori (JAP) 6/0 6/0
  • +50 years: Fouquet / Saumont beats Ekjaer / Theilgaard (DAN) 6/3 5/7 7/6
  • +50 years: Lalanne / Dechaume beats Neugarten / Marshack (USA) 6/0 6/0

The thriller of the day was won by the Fouquet / Saumont pair, who defeated the valiant Danes in the tie-break of the third set.

The surprise, as you have understood, is the victory of Julie Pecastaing and Amélie Detriviere against the Spaniards Esther Lasheras and Cynthia Perez Domenech, two players who were part of the Top 40 in the world!

Note that the pairs Soubrie / Ros (+35) and Phan-Thanh / Dumoutier (+55), had a bye in the first round and will therefore begin their competition this afternoon.

This morning is the end of the group matches in the nations competition. The French face Uruguay at 10:00 a.m. The French will start the day with the Open, and will finish it at 16:00 p.m., also against Uruguay!
