A par 4 is always a winner...even if you manage to defend it!

During the round of 1 of AXNUMX Chile Padel Open, an exceptional defense from Andres Britos recalled an unusual point of regulation of the padel.

The event occurred in the second set, after Aimar Goñi and Alvaro Sola won the first set. Yain Melgratti tries to bring the ball back to his side with a smash. Unfortunately for him, Goñi comes to counter at the net with a smash which comes out at 4 and the Spaniards seem to secure the point.

But Andres Britos has foreseen the move and starts to go out before his teammate even hits the ball. The Argentinian will not only go around the track to catch the ball behind his field, but also place an impeccable lob to restart the point!

A gesture that we almost never see in the padel, and for good reason, because it is in vain: according to the regulations, the point is automatically won by the team executing a par 4. A terribly disappointing outcome as Britos' shot was exceptional and spectacular!

Despite this setback, Britos and Melgratti, who had started poorly, qualified for the quarter-finals thanks to a nice remontada. Final score 4/6 – 6/3 – 6/4.
