FIP Burriana: Update on the favorites

Burriana's FIP is for many players the first tournament of padel of the season. Let's take stock of the favorites a few hours before the start of the competition.

For this start of the school year padelistically, there are several Top 40 players, and even Top 30 players. number 1 seed composed of Portuguese Sofia Araujo (27 WPT) and her partner, Argentina Maria Virginia Riera (26 WPT) of course favorite figure. These two players, who have already won a Fip Star this season (in Elche in November), are coming out of a good year 2019 with in particular two quarter-finals of the Open de World Padel Tour to their credit. There is no doubt that they will be keen to start 2020 in the most beautiful way.

Heads 2 and 3 seem less strong. There are two new associations: Carmen Goenaga Garcia (39 WPT) / Caldera Sánchez (28 WPT) and Araceli Martínez Ibañez (35 WPT) / Nuria Rodríguez Camacho (39 WPT). Four solid players, but who have had 2019 sawtooth seasons and who could therefore be takeable at the start of the year. The seed 4, made up of two players who played together in 2019: Jessica Castello and Anna Cortiles (both 36 at the WPT), seem a little more formidable, and she could meet on the road to Fiona Ligi and her partner in the eighth...

The table is lined with solid pairs, like Lorena Alonso (38 WPT), who will be associated for this tournament with Laura Clergue's former partner: Barbara Las Heras (79 WPT). Laura Clergue and Léa Godallier who, for their first international tournament together, will try to fare well despite a very difficult draw. Attention also to the new pair composed of the experienced Marta Talavan (43 WPT) and the young hopeful Lorena Rufo (73 WPT) which may well create surprise in the upper part of the table !
