Freezing rankings padel in 2020.

The rankings padel, tennis and beach tennis are frozen. Thus the rankings of March 2020 are frozen until the return of competitions. The French Tennis Federation, in the turmoil with the health crisis, thus responds to all competitors very clearly.

In view of this completely atypical season, the FFT has taken the decision to block the classification of players after the last monthly classification calculated in March. If there is a resumption of competitions, the monthly ranking will be calculated again and this until the end of the season, thus allowing players (his) with the sufficient number of points to go up in the ranking but in no case to go down .

Le World Padel Tour, the professional circuit of padel, had also indicated the freezing of rankings. A logical continuation following this global crisis.

For more information, please follow the website of the French Tennis Federation closely, which regularly provides information on the reorganization of the various competitions linked to the FFT.

  • Hello,
Good luck in this difficult period and a big thank you for continuing to keep this site alive!
This announcement leaves me a little hungry. Indeed, in tennis, it's simple, there are points to take over 1 year, at the end of the year we start from 0 with a ranking. There are many classified in each classification and the classification changes little (and never downwards during the year)
Au padel, the calculation is based on the points gleaned over a sliding year. So, from what I understand, we keep our rank, but do we also keep our points? In practice, we will not score points from April to September. Will we lose the points of the previous year achieved in the period? And what about the points of the mixed period which seems to be looming (where some will start playing again, others will not, but we do not want to hold out against those who do not play).
The simplest and in the spirit of the measure, would be to keep the points of the months of 2019 where we could not play in 2020 and to delete them only for the months of 2021.
    What do you think?

    • Hello Xavier, thank you for your words. We are always delighted to have this type of feedback! :)
Regarding your question, it is very complicated to answer it because for the moment we have relatively little information.
On the other hand, what we think we have understood is that everything is frozen: The ranking, the number of points ...
The activity will resume normally when the crisis is behind us.
Your idea is interesting. But I believe that the FFT should think simply and apply it to all the sports it manages (tennis, palm, beach tennis and padel). Especially since many circuits (tennis and padel) do the same.
See you very soon and thank you for following us!
      Franck
