Offer to padel its license to distinguish it from other sports offered by the FFT. On paper, the reasoning seems obvious: the padel is a sport like any other and as such it deserves to have its own license.
How many licensees actually play padel ? A question that we find it difficult to answer precisely.
This is, moreover, a problem encountered by many other countries, starting with Spain for other institutional reasons which we will not discuss here.
Today a player from padel official must have completed at least one tournament padel approved for the last 12 months. Which gives us around 15.000 ladies and gentlemen competitors.
How many people are playing padel without ever making approved tournaments? Certainly a lot more than players of padel in competition mode.
Today, it is therefore estimated that there would be around 100.000 practitioners in France.
Licenses padel can also be a source of income for FFT. She promised she would stay reasonable, but for a player who plays tennis, padel and beach, a single license will certainly cost less. It is clear that the debate will focus largely on this theme in the months to come.
The FFT has already made progress on this single license. But beware, nothing is validated yet and many things can still evolve.
