Barcelona Masters: We know the first female semi-final

The first two female quarterfinals were contested today in Barcelona. Viewers were able, for the only time of the year, to enjoy the matches on a Thursday, with a surprise from the start!

In the first quarterfinal, which pitted Gemma Triay and Lucía Sainz against Carolina Navarro and Ceci Reiter. Yet favorites, Triay and Sainz, who were coming out of a final at the Spanish Championships, never managed to develop their game, bowed 6/3 7/6. A entry surprise with the victory of Reiter and Navarro, who will not be favorites either in the semi-finals…

In the other quarterfinal of the day, Marta Marrero and Marta Ortega were looking for revenge against Majo Alayeto, who had beaten them (with Paula Josemaría) a week before at the Spanish Championships. This time the Marta were intractable and easily dominated the Mapi and Majo twins in two sets 6/2 6/4.

Reiter-Navarro and Ortega-Marrero will be able to take advantage of tomorrow's day to rest since the semi-finals will take place on Saturday. Tomorrow place in the other two quarter-finals: of the show in perspective and maybe more surprises, with the meetings Sanchez / Salazar against Amatriain / Llaguno and Josemaría / Nogueira against Brea / Gonzàlez!
