It's now official: Qatar Sports Investments notified the National Markets and Competition Commission of the purchase operation of Setpoint Events, the Spanish company that manages the professional circuit of padel World Padel Tour (WPT).
Even if the takeover had been recorded since the end of last summer, the notification of redemption of Setpoint Events officially signs the end of World Padel Tour.
Le World Padel Tour was born in 2013 and held, for almost a decade, the monopoly of the elite of the padel global. But in 2021, an embryo was born: Premier Padel.
After months of power struggle between the two entities, an agreement was reached. In August 2023, it’s official, le World Padel Tour will disappear at the end of the season.
It is therefore no surprise, at the start of 2024, that the acquisition of Setpoint Events becomes official. This acts for good the end of World Padel Tour.
