Sri Lanka welcomes its first track padel

That's it, the Sri Lanka also launches into the padel with the opening of the very first track of padel of the country, Thimbirigasyaya in Colombo, the country's capital.

Sri Lanka is not necessarily known for being a amateur racket sports, although tennis is quite present, but rather, a cricket lover. Indeed, if the Minister of Sports declared that volleyball was the national sport of the country, the hearts of Sri Lankans go straight to cricket.

Sport is also very important in the country's culture. So Sri Lanka has taken a step forward towards the diversification of its catalog since, recently, the country inaugurated its first track padel, in a complex called Padel house.

In an interview, the director of the complex, Shamal Perera, asserted : "This launch means more than just a new business; it’s a commitment to fostering a community of sports enthusiasts and bringing new adventures to our beautiful island."

Sri Lanka therefore follows the example of its neighbor India, increasingly invested in padel. Moreover, this proves that these Asian countries are increasingly interested in padel. Indeed, Pakistan also succumbed to the call of padel, with major projects around this discipline.
