William Accambray: “Want to play more”

A few days ago we attended the Head Padel Open. It was an opportunity to meet several personalities who came to have fun and have a good time in the 20×10.

This was the case for the handball player William Accambray. The native of Cannes and current left-back of the Pays d'Aix UC was present for this great event and confided in the microphone of Padel Magazine on his impressions of the padel.

From handball to padel ?

“Difficult match, when you start playing with players of another level, that's when you see the difference (laughs)”.

"I don't play regularly because during the season we have two games a week, which makes the possibility of playing quite difficult. However during the holidays with friends yes I manage to play a little more.”

"I have just taken my license in Aix-en-Provence and seeing this kind of tournament makes me want to play more. There is a good ambiance. Usually I play more for fun but there with this notion of competition it makes you want to get into it a little crescendo. There are very good players there but in slightly simpler competitions I can take a lot of pleasure in playing.

"My problem today especially is knowing when to move forward and when to step back in relation to the ball, I would say the vision of the game. I feel better in defense rather than in attack at the moment because I don't dare yet attack too much. In my sport, handball, I know how to attack but padel that's not it yet”.

More and more athletes are getting into padel

“I play with Jérôme Fernandez who practices a lot and who is starting to have a very good level. I also play with other athletes. In fact, I have volleyball or water-polo friends who have taken up padel. It's a sport that appeals to everyone and is very fun compared to tennis which is much more complicated”
