Do you need to protect your eyes padel ?

You may have wondered if the padel could be dangerous. The proximity to the game, the beautiful rapids, the clumsiness also make that we sometimes see accidents. Indeed, it is not so rare to get injured in receiving a ball from opponents (see his partner in some cases). Federico Chingotto can confirm this for you...

Most of the time the accident is benign, more fear than harm in the majority of cases. But watch your eyes anyway!

Indeed, the shock can sometimes cause rather serious problems. It is possible to see some players who have suffered retinal detachment. Unfortunately most often it is the operation.

This is why we see some players from padel disembark with protective goggles. The Basque squash or pelota have a great experience on this subject and there are many models to protect your eyes. Unfortunately, not many players feel comfortable with it.

In some Spanish leagues, the wearing of safety glasses has been made compulsory for the youngest… Shouldn't we imitate squash, and at least regulate it for young people at first?

  • Like any sport you have to be careful. Personally, I broke my nose, after trying to retrieve a ball on the glass wall at the back of the course, my racquet bounced off the glass and came back violently on the face. Wearing a cap could have avoided this for me.
