How to earn a point at padel ?

Interesting question since unlike tennis, the corridors do not exist. Leave in your bag your aces, your winning returns, your points in 2 snowshoes. We will have to be patient and wait for the right moment to go on the offensive.

Areas of attack

Unlike tennis, attacking the baseline is rather rare. The opponents will be at that moment most often stuck to the net. Tactically, the option of the lob is the hit that will play in the majority of cases.

Because if there is one area that must absolutely occupy to attack your opponents is the net.

« The pair that holds the net holds its destiny in hand ". This area will allow you to make a winning point or blame.

Generally, when a pair is in the attacking position (and therefore the net), the other pair is in the defensive position (and thus in the backstroke).

Your goal will be to take the net as soon as the situation allows.

Note: Remember that you have to ride in pairs and if possible on the same line.

Attack shots

Cut stubs and smashes will be your main weapons to complete a point.

But here too, the padel differs from tennis in that it will usually take several attack strokes to complete a point.

Before the final blow, it will therefore go through a phase of destabilization of your opponents.

First, cut volleys will aim to hamper opponents with a low rebound. By hitting the glass, the ball will then dive towards the ground. There is the effect given to the ball, but you also have to find the areas to play. 2 areas can be searched:

  • The crossed fly whose objective will be to find the side walls or the bottom wall
  • the fly in the center to search the center wall

Which ends to perform?

There are several types of offensive volleys: vibora (a side effect), a bandeja (A plateau smash) or the smash. To each situation its blow. However, you will have to concentrate on the main move: the Bandeja. It's a cut smash whose objective is to push the opponents to the bottom and prepare for the point.

The smash is the ultimate blow. He must be a winner. Getting the ball out of the field is the ideal option. But be careful, if the ball remains in the field, your opponents can take the opportunity to return your shot against you. If you are more than 3 meters from the net, the bandeja will certainly be the most suitable option.

  • Hello, I am interested in all racket sports and discover with great interest the padel, already practicing, let me introduce myself, Xavier MICHAUD Tennis teacher (DES) in a club and speaker (DE) at Creps de Boivre in Poitiers. I would like to know if there are player and initiator training. Thank you. See you soon.

    • Hello Sir, there is indeed a training supervised by the FFT recently for all DE. You have to get closer to your league. I know that there is Lille which will offer training / discovery padel for DE soon at Padel Attitude (Lesquin). You also have associative or private structures which are more training courses, very interesting especially if you want to pass on later. I invite you to take a leap here:
