The players' board negotiates with the WPT

All the actors of the padel will have lost money following the coronavirus crisis, players of the World Padel Tour included.

Like the clubs, which suffered a lot economically speaking during the confinement, the World Padel Tour will also lose a lot of money. If the circuit should resume very soon, the 17 dates initially planned cannot all take place, and with “Only” a dozen tournaments in 2020, the losses will be significant for the organization…

Thus, in this very delicate economic context, the WPT offered players two possible scenarios:

  • Give up 50% of the prize money of all tournaments that will take place in 2020.
  • Renounce the entire bonus planned for 2021 (€ 10 for players in the Top 000, € 10 for those between 7th and 500th place, etc.)

Two possibilities that are not suitable for players, who are meeting to find another scenario, which they will very soon propose to the organization.
