At a press conference during the Premier Padel Mendoza P1, Fernando Belasteguin returned to the trying season and the complaints from peers towards a schedule of tournaments a little too busy…

Be consistent

“When we accepted the challenge of Premier Padel at the beginning of 2022, we knew that we would have two very busy years between the contract of the World Padel Tour that we had to respect and the Premier tournaments that we were going to play during our rest weeks.

When we started this project, we were all ready to make this effort, so today I don't find it very logical to complain because there are too many tournaments...

We have to hold on because we were ready to make this effort so that the padel profession can change once and for all and the future of this sport be incredible.”

Tournaments more important than others…

“At my age, playing thirty tournaments a year is a lot, but you have to be consistent with the decisions you make. It's true that last week in Malaga, the only thing I wanted was not to hurt myself so that I could be present in Mendoza. There are tournaments that are more important than others, for the points they give, for the place where they are played, for what they will represent in terms of points next season.

We have to play both circuits until the end, so now we have to shut up and get the job done!”

If we read a little between the lines, we understand that the “Boss” gives priority to tournaments stamped Premier Padel, who should be the ones who will stay next season. The players having not renewed their contract with the WPT, we say that the circuit financed by Estrella Damm is living its last moments…
