Following their 6/3 7/5 victory against the very promising Juan Luis Esbri and Eduardo Alonso, Sanyo Gutierrez and Momo González came back to the microphone Padel Magazine on their feelings after the match during this WPT Human Padel Open. What could be better than a great victory for the Argentinian, who celebrated his 39th candle this Thursday on the 20×10 of the André-Brouat Sports Palace in Toulouse.

“Change tactics”

Momo Gonzalez : “It was a difficult match, we know that Juan Luis and Edu are two very strong players. They scored a lot of points and each time they put us in difficulty. As we saw in the second set, they started off taking the lead but we managed to push on. The sensations are getting better and better.”

sanyo gutierrez : “We knew we only had one break behind so we changed our strategy and played at a good level. We worked well as a pair but also with Jordi (Munoz Baixas) who accompanies us on the bench. Jordi offered us a new tactic, we were sure it would work and it paid off.”

“Dani makes me play well”

MG : “Yes indeed, although we have only trained very little together, we have created a great complementarity together on the track and over time it will get better and better. Especially since it's very easy to evolve alongside Dani because he plays very well, very padel to his partner and I just have to take advantage of the balls he makes to finish the points.

SG : “We know that here in Toulouse we don't come to play on a very fast track while in Valladolid it's the opposite. It is difficult to move from a tournament like this in Valladolid because there are very few days of adaptation. These are different tournaments which will of course give different results, which is why you have to be very careful. However, for the moment, we are only focusing on this tournament, and we will see what Valladolid will do afterwards.

“Taking time for ourselves”

As we mentioned a little above, the Argentinian celebrated his 39th birthday this Thursday. Thus, it was an opportunity to ask his sidekick if he had a gift for his partner.

MG : “I offer him the victory today and something else yes (laughs).”

SG : “With the schedule we have this year I spend more time with Momo than with my wife and children. If we start doing other activities together, apart from the padel it will mean that we never separate. No, it is clear to us that we must take time for ourselves, to call our loved ones that we cannot see during the year. Afterwards when the time comes to go on the track to play or train, we find ourselves with pleasure of course.”
