Adrien Maigret and Benjamin Tison, the vice-champions of France of padel in 2018, experience a complicated episode in their career padelistic.

Even if, the Parisians nevertheless achieve interesting results with a recent victory in the FFT Padel Tour of Aix-en-Provence and 2 finals during the last two P1000 (Head Padel Open and open Padel Roquettant), we feel the pair more feverish in their matches.

So we asked the people directly ...

Lost innocence

Who does not remember the exceptional beginnings of Benjamin Tison and Adrien Maigret? Many players even praised this particularly offensive and complicated game to counter. A game that was difficult to read, which did not necessarily look like a “game padel".

But, there was a PLAN A and A PLAN A. In front of the best, when they made too many mistakes, there was no PLAN B. And we could see them doing failed matches.

Some defeats have actually taught us a lot about our limits of having only one style of play. That's why, with Adrien, we try to enrich our game.

Adrien and Ben trained with Fabrice Ortiz, one of the great French coaches. A lot of work has been done to allow them to be more complete.

And maybe that's where they lost their innocence: They changed their game to be stronger by working the weak spots. A very good thing of course. But the counterpart, "this is the period when everything is put in place".

We are in a period when we have to digest all our achievements. Today we have more weapons, but we still need time to know which weapon to choose now during our matches.

Less efficient ?

Benjamin Tison certainly summarizes the situation the best:

When we first started with Adrien, we had a more disorganized game. Our opponents were having a hard time reading our game. And on a good day, we were very difficult to counter.

The downside is that we only knew how to play one way. And we did it well, I think.

In trying to expand our game, so we learned a lot, but these new tactical or technical schemes do not allow us for the moment to be more effective on the field than before.

We may be more predictable than before. We have to marry what we have learned with our offensive game.

"Ben and Adri" seem to go through this almost obligatory passage: an intermediate phase where one wonders "if we make the right choice. " Obviously, this period reminds us of that of many players of the France team who left for Spain and who had moments of doubt. Mentally, it's far from obvious:

You have to go through there, to go further. To go back to better advance. It's a bit of our motto. For now, we certainly back a little, but we hope to come back stronger.

Goal: French Championships

Remember: Last year, the Parisian pair achieved an exceptional first half of 2018 with victories over Fermin / Le Panse, Bensadoun / Tello or even Blanqué / Bergeron twice. And the second half was much more complicated, apart from this incredible period during the world in Paraguay

This year, a less obvious start. Tison / Maigret hopes that the stars will align themselves during the second half with the main objective: A victory at the French Championships of padel at Casa Padel, "a club we know very well".

Indoor and / or outdoor?

It is often said that we are not outdoor players, but that is not really true. It is more the quality of the grounds which can have an impact on our game eventually. The faster the pitch, the more it will go in our direction and vice versa.

Life in Barcelona?

Adrien Maigret remains in Paris, even if he intends to participate in all stages of the WORLD PADEL TOUR. Benjamin Tison left for Barcelona. He lives with Jérémy Scatena and trains with the same group as his roommate.

We have a group of 6 players in the morning for training. In the afternoon, we try to play with the other French in Barcelona, namely, Johan Bergeron, Robin Haziza and Maxime Moreau.

All French people go to Mijas except Robin Haziza a priori. The pre-qualifiers start this weekend.
