There are times when the frog manages to make itself bigger than the ox, no offense to Monsieur de La Fontaine!

This is the spectacle that the spectators of the Palau Sant Jordi witnessed this Friday, during a surprising quarter-final. On the one hand, the seeded 2 formed by Agustin Tapia and Sanyo Gutierrez, on the other a pair of outsiders created especially for this Master Final, Federico Chingotto/Martin Di Nenno.

But while we expected to see the favorites take advantage of their superior firepower, Tapia and Sanyo suffered the game of strategy imposed on them by Di Nenno and Chingotto. The latter, passed to the left for the occasion, looked formidable in point construction and lethal when concluding with smashes to which he has not accustomed us.

After a first set concluded 6-3, the two youngest Argentines on the track suffered the return of their compatriots, who regained their feelings and won the second 6-1.

But at the start of the third set, “Chingo” and Di Nenno again bamboozled their opponents with a diabolical slow game, a fantastic defense based on their superior liveliness and movement speed. A first break on Tapia's service allowed them to take control, before resisting the return of Pablo Crosetti's players, who we felt were increasingly running out of solution and juice, in slow playing conditions. A second break allowed the “frogs” team to put the “oxen” down on the final score of 6-1.

Chingotto and Di Nenno realize the first real sensation of this Master Final, and they will find tomorrow either their compatriots Capra and Sanchez, or their former teammates Navarro and Tello, in a match which will have a lot of pace whatever happens!
