Humble, friendly and always smiling, Federico Chingotto is one of the most appreciated players on the international scene.

The Argentinian, who dazzles with his technique and his incredible defenses, is talking about him this weekend at the WPT Master Final. Indeed, with his compatriot Martin Di Nenno, “Super Raton” was exceptional yesterday on the left. In its wake, the pair formed for the occasion emerged victorious in her quarter-final against Sanyo and Tapia. A surprise that allows Martin and Fede to play a semi-final this afternoon against their former partners Juan tello and Paquito Navarro!

The opportunity for us to come back to an interview given a few years ago and shared by our colleagues from El4Set. The young talent from Buenos Aires spoke about his difficult beginnings and the sacrifices he had to make to achieve his dream: to be one of the best players in the world.

“I thank my mom for all the help she gave me during all these years. Sleeping in the car to save a night in a hotel, traveling to Tucuman, driving 1 kilometers to play a match and coming back… Sometimes I wondered, why keep playing? I couldn't go to other tournaments because I didn't have enough money to go there...

When you play well you tell yourself that you can take part in another competition, but when things didn't turn out to your advantage and you lost in the first match, that was another story! I ate what I could, rarely went to hotels... When I started on the World Padel Tour and that I saw the bleachers full, I couldn't believe it!"

Chingotto cry WPT Master Final 2022

This afternoon, the bleachers of the Palau Sant Jordi will still be full to see a semi-final which promises to be boiling. Will Chingotto and Di Nenno still be able to beat the odds?
