It is not easy to answer precisely the question posed in the title, and for good reason: the answer changes every day, padel is developing so quickly!

Let's start with the French figures: last October, the French Tennis Federation claimed 1273 padel courts, but was counting on the construction of 1000 new pitches by the end of 2024, in particular thanks to the financing offered by the National Sports Agency (ANS) on the occasion of the Paris Olympics.

more optimistic, Site Padelonomics identified 1464 tracks in France at the end of 2022, including 259 built during the year. This is an increase of 21,5% in the space of one year.

France, a padel dwarf facing Italy

Despite this great growth, France is seen as a dwarf in padel compared to Italy, where growth is incredible. As we mentioned it yesterday, the country in the boot has built 2459 new padel courts in 2022: an increase of almost 53%, which allows to reach today 7128 tracks! This makes Italy the third best equipped country in the world, behind Spain and Argentina.

The country of the 2022 men's world champions would currently total more than 8000 lands of padel. A figure that has also been constantly increasing in recent years since it was “only” 4900 two years ago, at the start of 2021.

As for Spain, the tracks continue to be built there at a sustained pace, to the point that their number would today be between 18 and 000, while that of practitioners would be more than 20 million.

In Europe alone, the study Global Padel Report conducted by Monitor Deloitte in collaboration with Playtomic, highlighted that nearly 27 padel courts were built between 000 and 2016. This study predicts that by 2021, there will be a total of 2026 courts worldwide, generating up to 67 billion euros of investment in four years.

Only one track in Aix-en-Provence?

But that doesn't answer our initial question: how many padel courts are there in the world today?

A man claims to have the answer: his name is Minter Dial, he is British and aged 58. This author and speaker says he is “obsessed with padel”, to the point of holding One blog which lists, among other things, the number of runways in a hundred countries. And according to Mr Dial's latest calculations, we would now reach 54 courts!

It's certainly huge, but let's calm down: it only ever makes one track for 145 inhabitants of the Earth. It's a bit like there's only one field in the city of Thomas Leygue, Aix en Provence !
