Here is the ranking of the best players of padel in the world. Before starting the season, and the first tournament, it is essential to have a reference and therefore a ranking. How the World Padel Tour organizes this ranking and who are the best male and female pairs before the Marbella Master 2019?

In a little over 30 days the first WPT meeting of the year begins. The best players have been preparing for several weeks to offer us the best padel in the world.

Marbella paintings Padel Masters will be organized like all the other tables of the various tournaments of the season, with seeds. But how do you know who the seeds are when the season begins? Here are some answers to some questions we may ask ourselves about the WPT ranking.

How to know who is seeded?

First of all, you have to position yourself at the end of the season. Each player finishes with a quota of points awarded according to the results achieved throughout the sporting year. The closer the player gets to the final, the more points he will earn. In December, players finish with a certain number of points.

During the first tournament of the year (this year the Marbella Padel Masters in March), the players, some of whom will have changed partners, will see (or not) their ranking changed, but their number of points unchanged. With this new classification will result the seeds.

Example: With my partner we finish the year with 10 000 points each a total of 20 000 points for the team. This total of points brings us to the third place of the ranking. In March, for the first tournament, I change my partner who totaled 12 000 points the previous year, our total will be 22 000 points and we will be second in the standings.

Why does the number of points always remain, year after year, around 30 000 points for 1 numbers?

It is true that if after each tournament points are added to the total of each player, there would be huge gaps and rankings would move almost never.

In fact to allow all players to climb the leaderboard, the points are taken from one year to the next. If the previous year a player has accumulated 1000 points for the 1 tournament, and this year he has accumulated 700, his total points will be decreased by 300.

These results are taken in the order of the tournaments and not according to the places of the tournaments.

In the case of injuries or unplayed tournaments?

For long-term injuries such as pregnancy, players can enjoy a "protected" ranking that allows them to keep their points.

In the case of unplayed tournaments or less serious injuries that discard players from tournaments shortly, the total point will be zero. That's why Fernando Belasteguin has lost his place of world number 1. The previous year he won the tournament, and the following year he totaled zero points.
