David Matéo reveals his thoughts and aspirations as sports director of the FIP Rise Bourg-en-Bresse, the first edition of which will take place from November 21 to 25, 2023. After his successful experiences with the FIP Rise Canet-en-Roussillon and the FIP Gold Perpignan, David is turning to new horizons with enthusiasm and ambition.

A new challenge

David does not hide his joy at being part of this adventure: “I am super happy that Alex Picquier offered to help me,” he reveals, emphasizing the satisfaction of being able to work on a project of this scale .

Determined to make his contribution, David sees this new project as an opportunity to broaden his horizons: “I am enthusiastic about the idea of ​​doing a FIP elsewhere than in my department.”

A fruitful collaboration

David praised the work of his predecessor, Alexandre Picquier. “The work that Alex has done is enormous, the setting is great with the grounds in the exhibition center, the VIP corner, etc.,” he says, admiring the solid foundation on which he can build.

Goals and aspirations

The new sports director does not lack ambition for the tournament. “The goal is to have a good tournament this year, then move up next year with a little more time to prepare for everything,” confides David, emphasizing his desire for continuous improvement.

Call to players

David expresses his wish to see the best French players participate in this FIP: “I would like the best French players to come to this FIP, but there are a lot of tournaments at the same time, we just have to cross our fingers,” he admits, aware of the competition from other events.

Reunions and Meetings

He is also delighted to find the team of Padel Mag on site, “it’s always a real pleasure” and is excited at the idea of ​​meeting some of the actors of the padel in person.

An expensive tournament

“I see the evolution of padel from the inside, with the FFT closer than ever. The department and the league are also behind us. THE padel evolves quickly, very quickly, so it’s essential not to make mistakes.”, he confides.

Aware of the responsibilities weighing on him, he concludes: “I find it reassuring to have everyone's support for an international event. It’s an extremely expensive tournament, so you really shouldn’t make a mistake.”
