It was the long-awaited Franco-Belgian duel at the FIP Rise de Mol. On one side of the track stood Clément Geens (n°149 FIP) and Maxime Deloyer (n°147 FIP), representing Belgium, and on the other, the French pair composed of Adrien Maigret (n°162 FIP ) and Jérôme Inzerillo (n°138 FIP).

The weekend was perfect for the Belgian pair. In the semi-finals, Geens and Deloyer managed to eliminate the number 2 seed of the tournament, the Franco-Spanish pair Leygue / Insa, in a big match that lasted more than two hours: 7/5, 6/7, 6/2.

As for the French pair, Inzerillo / Maigret, they also had to fight in three sets to eliminate the surprise pair from the semi-finals, Van Opstal / Wunner: 6/2, 4/6, 6/1.

Direction the final, and this one started on a strange rhythm. Between fatigue and a prolonged break between the semi-finals and the final, the level of play seemed to be in decline. Clément Geens told us: “The start of the match was not exceptional in terms of level of play. We were undoubtedly affected by this two-hour break and by the intense match we had delivered at the end of the morning against Leygue/ Insa.”

Despite everything, the Belgian pair were able to take over and won the first set with the score of 6/4.

In the second set, the tide turned. Maigret and Inzerillo came back on the track more determined and less fallible, equalizing at 1 set everywhere with a score of 6/3.

However, the decisive set quickly turned in favor of the Belgians. Geens and Deloyer took control of the game and did not release their grip, concluding the set: 6/1.

Final score of 6/4 3/6 6/1. Clément Geens and Maxime Deloyer win the FIP Rise de Mol on their land. It's a first FIP tournament victory for Maxime Deloyer, while for Clément Geens, it's the second FIP Rise after that of Coxyde won last year, alongside Jérôme Peeters.
