This was one of the events of the very big party that we attended yesterday in Brussels : the victory of Miguel Lamperti and Juan Cruz Belluati against Momo Gonzalez and Alex Ruiz (TS6). At the end of a totally crazy encounter, the Argentinians triumphed over the Andalusians by the smallest of margins (7/6 6/7 7/6).

It's not often that we see matches give us three decisive games, and, sad to say, but it's also not often that we see Miguel Lamperti reach the quarter-finals of 'a competition... Indeed, if the native of Bahia Blanca was part of the elite of padel global for more than a decade, it has started to show signs of weakness in recent years.

As proof, the last time that the local gunner Nox had reached the quarters of a major tournament, it was at World Padel Tour from La Rioja, Argentina, over 13 months ago! And already, “Miguelito” was accompanied by Juan Cruz Belluati, a player he found in Belgium, more than a year after leaving him!

Those with a very good memory will remember that the two compatriots reached the semi-finals at the La Rioja Open. Will they be able to do the same this Friday? In any case, they were not spoiled by the draw, they who will face Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia this Friday…

Anyway, given this first tournament, we can say that Belluati and Lamperti seem to have made the right choice in deciding to come back together. And even if the sequel proves them wrong, Belgian fans will certainly remember for a long time this totally crazy match that the Argentinians and the reformed pair Gonzalez / Ruiz gave them!
