Le padel is a simple word. However, we read in the press or elsewhere different words to talk about padel. Some write paddle, others paddle tennis, padel tennis or padle. We will try to separate the true from the false so as never to make the mistake again.
Padel Tennis: Term sometimes used in the press padel or tennis. On paper, the term is relatively accurate. It can happen in everyday language to speak of padel tennis to dissociate it in particular from paddle or stand up paddle. However, in common parlance, one never adds tennis to padel. But, it is an accepted term.
Padel : That's the way you should write this sport. You will never be wrong by using the term “padel”To talk about our sport. By using the word “padel”, You show that you are not necessarily a novice in this sport.
Paddle: Here's the word that makes debate and rightly so!
Today, it should no longer be used. Attention, in the media, and even some clubs, we still sometimes read that. Paddle or stand up paddle, is a sport on water with a big board and from time to time an oar... In short, it has nothing to do with our paddle padel and our land… If you make the mistake, try to deprogram yourself, because it is a big mistake today.
However, Originally, it was indeed the English word paddle which was used and widespread in Argentina and Spain more than 10 years ago and which is Spanishized. Until recently, only Argentina and Italy still used it. But, little by little, paddle definitely turns into padel.
Finally, on the website of the International Federation of padel, we can still read also (occasionally) paddle…
But, you want to be sure not to make a mistake, write PADEL.
Paddle tennis: Another mistake noted by certain major media… it doesn't mean anything… At least for the moment… One day maybe we will be able to play tennis on a surfboard. For the moment, this is not the case.
Padle: A priori, this word absolutely does not exist. So simply banish that word from your vocabulary.
Franck Binisti discovers the padel at the Club des Pyramides in 2009 in the Paris region. Since padel is part of his life. You often see him touring France going to cover the major events of padel French.
And you will not be Wrong to write this article correctly!
What is Paddle Tennis?
Paddle Tennis is a racket sport that was born at the end of the 19th century on English cruisers. To entertain the passengers, the crew mounted miniature tennis courts using paddles as snowshoes. This hobby enjoyed great success among practitioners and was later developed in New York.
It is in this city that the official birth of the sport takes place, when Frank Beal popularizes it in the Lower Manhattan district, at the beginning to occupy the kids of the district. The popularity of this sport is growing fast and in 1922 the first official tournament takes place.
This sport still exists today, practicing almost exclusively in New York and California. The paddle tennis is played in singles or doubles, the latter modality is still the most common.
The rules of paddle tennis are practically the same as those of tennis, although the service is "spoon" at the waist. This sport is practiced on a shorter court, more or less half a normal court, which has no double lines and a wall or fence surrounds the field so that the balls do not get lost. Once the ball hits the wall, the point is over.
The net is also a little lower than the tennis net and the rackets are wooden pallets and have no ropes. All this favors a fast game, often net, more playful and based on the reflexes of the players more than on the technique.
Just a clarification, apparently Paddle-Tennis did exist (late XNUMXth century invention) even if it is different from the PADEL
