Ricky Brigolle, Category Manager of racquet sports at Head Spain, takes stock of the year 2021 for the Austrian brand and shares with us the brand's 2022 novelties.

“40% growth in Spain”

Padel Magazine : What assessment of the evolution of padel in Europe and for Head more particularly can you establish?

Ricky Brigolle: “We are coming out of a somewhat bizarre year 2021, because we were coming out of a complicated 2020 with everything that was closed. Then things started to gradually reopen and the padel started to popularize more and more, so we have experienced incredible growth. In Spain, for example, we have experienced growth of over 40% compared to last year.. In Scandinavia, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and France, it was a very good year for us as well. “

Padel Magazine : You were talking about 40% growth for Spain, in terms of figures, is this a growth record for you in Spain?

Ricky Brigolle:”It is true that in Spain, we thought we had already reached the maximum, that there would not be more people playing the padel. But after confinement, people got down to padel and have gradually abandoned other sports which may explain the exceptional sales we had over this year. “

At the palas level

Ricky Brigolle: ”The Alpha range has a life cycle that rotates every 2 years, and that we alternate with the Delta. So in 2022 the Alpha will remain the same as in 2021. However for the Delta, things have changed compared to the 2020 version. We kept the same mold, but there is a technology called Auxetic, which is placed at the heart of the racquet and which changes the feeling, the sensations of the strike. It is an evolution of the Delta which is known for its power, but with the contribution of the Auxetic you gain more touch, comfort and you have more precise control. Players like Coello enjoyed playing with the new Delta and switched to this model for the Masters Final. ”

Passionate about football, I discovered the padel in 2019. Since then, it's been crazy love with this sport to the point of abandoning my favorite sport.
