This Saturday afternoon, spectators at the Malmö Open witnessed a semi-final where the BIG was not that far away. On one side of the track, Martin Di Nenno and Franco Stupaczuk, and on the other, Victor Ruiz alongside Lucas Bergamini. This last duo, winner on Friday of Juan Luis Esbri and Lucas Campagnolo in two sets (6/3 – 7/5), had to face the confident and in great shape Superpibes.

Stupa and Di Nenno Enter the Stage with Force

From the first set, the advantage quickly tilted in favor of the Argentines. Di Nenno and Stupa entered the court with energy, determined to impose their game on the Swedish 20x10 court. The Spanish-Brazilian pair found themselves overwhelmed by the sustained pace of the Albicelestes players, struggling to match their confidence and remarkable performance since the start of the season.

Ruiz / Bergamini Sows Doubt

However, in the second set, the Ruiz/Bergamini pair, galvanized, did not give up. More solid and consistent than during the first round, these two outsiders managed to worry the favorites. Fighting neck and neck, they gave each other a boost of energy during an intense tie-break. Coming without a coach, Victor and Lucas were able to develop a winning strategy, allowing them to get back into the game.

Intractable Superpibes

Stung, the two Argentinians were quick to react. Unaccustomed to being put in difficulty in this way, they decided to pick up the pace to finish off their opponents. The blue and white steamroller then swept away everything in its path. Stupa and Di Nenno did not reproduce the same mistakes as in the previous set and were able to demonstrate the full extent of their talent. Much more regular during this third round, the Superpibes won after 2h36 of play and thus qualified for their 11th final of the season on the circuit of World Padel Tour (WPT).

Final score: 6/2 - 6/7 - 6/1.

Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno are the first pair to book their ticket to the Malmö Open final. Earlier, Delfina Brea and Beatriz Gonzalez managed to qualify for the grand final of this competition.

Now for the second semi-final of the day, which will pit the numbers 1 in the ranking, Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josémaria, against Sofia Araujo and Alejandra Salazar.
