Here is a statistic that is certainly not insignificant: two players and one player were injured during the first round of the World Padel Tour Valencia Open. This is enough to provide grist for the mill of those who think that there are too many tournaments this season!

During the round of XNUMX of the Valencian tournament, Javi Barahona, Lorena Rufo and Marc Quilez were forced to retire due to injury. And the craziest thing is that Javi, Lorena and Marc have all been hit in the calf, like the Frenchman Benjamin Tison a few weeks ago, or like the Andalusian Javi Ruiz more recently.

Muscular injuries which are not due to chance but rather to the physical overload linked to the sequence of competitions. Indeed, it is already the 15th tournament of the World Padel Tour which is currently taking place in Valencia, while the season started just over four months ago! After a crazy year 2022 during which the WPT and Premier Padel, athletes' bodies continue to be strained in 2023.

A hellish pace, which has seen many stars of the padel injury in recent weeks: Juan Lebron of course, but also Ale Galan, Arturo Coello, Agustin Tapia, Alejandra Salazar, Pablo Lima…

In this context, we imagine that the players are impatiently awaiting the summer break and we hope that there will not be too many breakages by then. In the longer term, we would like the circuits to finally be able to agree in order to offer a unique competition, with larger rest periods, to allow players to give the best of themselves in each tournament...
