2 P1000 for one World Padel Tour in France, normal?

We will come back to a subject that comes up regularly between players and clubs of padel :

Is it normal that there are 1st category events (P1000) at the same time as an international event unique in France, a Challenger World Padel Tour ?

We said we were going to talk about it. We will, but this article is not intended to caricature of clubs or events in padel, nor to oppose each other. This is useless. The idea is to know, if clubs and players must directly find a way to come to an agreement to avoid what will happen from October 19 to 21, namely: P1000 in Lille, P1000 in Lyon + the semi-finals and Final Challenger World Padel Tour Paris.

A cost and a unique test

Completing a stage or a Challenger World Padel Tour is a very significant cost. Indeed, to accommodate a Challenger for example, there is more than 100.000 € of investment between the rights to offer an event - Challenger WPT, the costs related to the setting up of the event, the shortfall, etc. It is therefore a very important investment for the organizing club of an event like this.

This test must work in France. We all have an interest in clubs, players and federation.

A Challenger in Paris means the best players in the world of padel for a week at Casa Padel. For all clubs and enthusiasts, it's finally the chance to see what is done best on the planet padel in the world.

We should all be grateful that an event like this is offered to us.

WinWin Padel d'Aix-en-Provence showed the way by launching the first Challenger in France more than a year ago. Casa Padel is the first to offer a Challenger in Paris. Remember that Monte Carlo International Sports offered Monaco for 2 consecutive years a magnificent Master. These are unique events in France. We know how difficult it is to set up an event like this and not leave too many feathers in it.

Clubs and players padel, all enthusiasts, should agree to allow everyone to participate in this great celebration of padel, one of the most beautiful.

This argument, we have heard from all players and clubs. Everyone is in agreement. However, we find ourselves in a situation that nobody wanted. Why ?

The FFT should have done something?

The French Tennis Federation is not guilty of all evils. Clubs and players must also agree among themselves. Speakers from padel testify:

Since March, there has been plenty of time to avoid what is going to happen. It's still a shame that we end up with hardships that can interfere a little with this great moment of padel.
P1000, there are permanently. We even have too many. All the members of padel should be delighted to see a Challenger, a unique event that emerges. Hopefully the players realize this and all respond present.

Obviously, it will be necessary to count on an audience outside the padel who will come to discover this beautiful event. But "it would be good if the padelers come to see what's best in the world, for them, for the event, but also for the future of our sport".

In our opinion, the French Tennis Federation should perhaps have limited the number of tournaments of padel this weekend and especially to limit the number of P1000:

Already it is not obvious with all these events, but in addition, we allow 2 P1000 on a weekend like this ... Not really top as situation.

Clubs need to get along / communicate with each other to avoid these kinds of situations. We certainly expect too much from the FFT, already focused on framing this sport.

A subject that leads to other French-French themes

Dates for P1000 are already all taken / Should we limit the number of P1000 for each organization / club in the year? / Players from beginner to confirmed only want P1000 / Do we have a pool of players important enough for such an important tournament offer? ...

How do they work in Spain?
They who have a greater distance above have the same problems. Is their classification system the same as in France?
Isn't the root of the problem our ranking system which offers more points depending on the tournament category? Tennis does not have this kind of problem because the ranking is established according to the level of the opponents, and not according to the level of the tournament.
These are certainly very naive questions, but I've been asking myself them for a while ...

Hello Brice, these are very interesting ideas. We will certainly focus on Spain. But basically it works by category and not everyone can do all the categories, it all depends on the weight per team… But we'll come back to that 🙂

I totally agree with you on the ranking system.
In addition, I am a little surprised by this debate. Indeed, the level of the tournament concerns only the elite: the end of the table of p1000 are trusts by the same players and if one is not top 20on has no chance. If there is more p1000, it may be going to top 50 for the end of the table. We are talking about 1% of the classifieds. For the others, we make the tournaments that we can do to play little import the ranking of the tournament. And with the new scale, it will be equivalent in terms of points.
And for those new to p1000 I ask to see because the cut to participate is in the top 400. And basically what problems does that pose? In tennis, anyone can do a cngt. To make a final draw you have to be a good nega, but basically at 15 and less it doesn't bother you because you never make the final draw whether in cngt or a smaller tournament and you play at the same level for any tournament . Finally, at padel it's the same, even if it's more heterogeneous, we almost always lose against teams of the same level.

    I do not play padel that for a year, so the past, I do not know!
    However, it seems to me that we can make an elitist P1000 because in the final table there are top players while remaining open to everyone for the qualifiers, pre-qualifiers, pre-qualifiers.
    On the P250 and P500 that I play, I stop globally against the same type of pair and rather in the same round in addition on the 2 tournament formats. On a P1000, I could always stop against the same one or two laps before.
    To make an analogy with the CNGT in tennis, in a CNGT, the final table is filled with numbered players, so it's elitist. On the other hand at 30/4, 15/4, or 4/6 we play but that does not change anything because we never see the final table of a tournament.
    So in my opinion, it is the first 8 seeds that make the level of a tournament. One should be looking at this in a P1000 (for example, a pair weight of less than 100 for the top 8 and less than 30 for the top 4). On the other hand, if there is room in terms of organization, why not take some beginners?
    The easier it is to play in a tournament, the more people will play and the more padel will gain importance.
