It's a world first! An initiative of President of the Moldovan Padel Federation, Mihai Burciu, gave rise to an initiation to padel in a juvenile prison en Moldova.
Mihai Burciu said :
“Today I went to a juvenile detention center in the Republic of Moldova, to encourage them on the occasion of the International Day of the Family, and for two hours I offered them exercises and padel, to get out of their daily state of sadness in detention.”
As the Federation explained in a statement: “ The young people played padel and pickeball with interest with our instructors, some even said that they were counting the days of detention until they were free again to come and play padel.”
For Mihai Burciu, sport is one of the keys to the reintegration of these young people:
“Sport is a miracle. Sport has stopped wars, sport has brought peace, sport offers unique opportunities! I wish you today, through sport, to feel free and enjoy this opportunity. We are waiting for you in padel and for better opportunities!”



The deputy director of the national penitentiary administration, Liuba Jignea-Suveica, thanked everyone for their involvement and support, mentioning the importance of the family in supporting children and the parent-child relationship in the development of the personality of minors and their scale of values.
As for the children's rights lawyer, Maia Banarescu, she provided words of wisdom and unconditional support.
The Moldovan Federation wished to thank the National Administration of Penitentiaries of the Republic of Moldova, the Deputy Director Liuba Jignea-Suveica, the Office of the Moldovan People's Advocate, the Advocate for Children's Rights Maia Banarescu, the director of Penitentiary No. 10 of Goian, Alexandru Roibu, for the invitation and the opportunity to be with these young citizens.
