The International Padel Club Cup in Malaga offers us exceptional stories. This is the case of the two Moldovan teams that tell us about their journey to come to Andalusia and especially their padel experience.
Mihrai Burciu, the president of the Moldovan Padel Federation and Diana Racu, the captain of the Cami sport club team, tell their story with padel.
What an adventure !
Mihai Burciu (MB) : We had to fight against the elements to get to this International Padel Club Cup. We could have not come. The fault of a cancelled flight between Moldova and Spain. Apparently nothing to do with the war in Ukraine.
Consequence: it took two days of travel to arrive in Spain. Our adventure therefore started with a 12-hour bus ride between Moldova and Romania. Then another 4 hours by plane between Romania and Spain.
In total, it took us 48 hours to reach our destination,It was hard for the whole team but we were delighted to finally arrive in Malaga!
Diana Racu (DR) - When I arrived, it was not easy. But now we are fine.
We stayed for five days and discovered what real padel is, since we were not the most experienced in this competition.

Promoting padel in Moldova
MB : Moldova is a small country. But we feel that padel can take off. For now, we have two padel clubs, but without a court… The goal is precisely to promote padel to see this sport develop.
The only runway we have has no glass or carpet and was used to house refugees from the war in Ukraine. For us to play on real tracks it's another world.
DR: For us it is special because in reality we are discovering this type of court. We play on a single false padel court at home, and nothing else. It's just that we are passionate. For now there is neither technique nor tactics, we have to learn everything.
We are going to set up the first padel club with two courts. They will be outdoor at first, but we will cover them. It will be the CAMI SPORT CLUB and the courts will be built within two months.
A big project in 2023
MB: We are going to launch a big circuit project in Moldova with the help of the European Padel Federation. It is the Central European Padel Round. A stage will take place with us.
There will also be a local circuit: Moldova Padel Round. We have nearly 200 players today. But with the projects that are coming, I am sure that this sport can become very well known in Moldova..

Franck Binisti discovered padel at the Club des Pyramides in 2009 in the Paris region. Since then, padel has been part of his life. You often see him touring France to cover major French padel events.
