Aranzazu Osoro: “The padel is internationalizing and we must take advantage of it”

Aranzazu Osoro is the 12th player in the world, she is known for her aggressiveness on the field and her unfailing determination which earned her the nickname Viking.

Last week, Argentina was present at the Interclubs N1 2024 with the Palavas team – titled at the end of the tournament. We were able to meet her and discuss with her her year 2023, her arrival at the Interclubs and the expansion of the padel worldwide !

A very positive 2023 assessment

I was lucky enough to be able to have a very good end to the 2023 season. With Jess Castello, we were able to play very well together and carry each other to the top. I'm starting this year with Vero Virseda, with a lot of motivation and hopes for the upcoming season (note that the two players will only play the Riyadh tournament together since Veronica Virseda decided to join forces with Marta Ortega).

Obviously, when we start a new year, we always hope to do better than the previous one. So, I have hope that in 2024, I can do at least as well than last season.

Interclubs in France

For me, it's a real pleasure to play Interclubs in France. I came to play with Palavas because the club gave me this opportunity. I was really happy to be here and to be able to represent this club.

We had a very good team. And even though I hardly knew any of the players before arriving, I think we made a very good team together. We all wanted to win the tournament.

In the field, I tried to enjoy every moment. The players I played with, I didn't know them and it was a chance for me to get to know them on the track. I also wanted to ensure that my partner can enjoy the match and that she gives the maximum of herself.

Will I come back next year? I hope so. I would really like to come back and play next year and I'm hopeful that will be the case!

In the end, the padel expands and internationalizes enormously. Today, there are a lot of tournaments, almost everywhere. Participating allows players to make themselves known and promote the padel female.

I think that he is important to take advantage of it because it is a very good opportunity.

Its relationship with France

The French public is very warm. He always makes me feel like I'm at home. That's why I'm so happy to be in such an incredible country.

I hope that France continues to be as successful for me, this year, normally, you will see me at Paris (Roland Garros) and Bordeaux (for P2).
