Before entering the competition in Toulouse, the French n°1 gave us several scoops, concerning his partner in the WPT and his future sporting priorities.

Benjamin Tison, seeded n°1 in the French championships with Johann Bergeron, will play his first round this Friday afternoon. But as of this morning, he was at the microphone of Padel Magazine,

The reigning French champion, 59e world player this week at classification of World Padel Tour, said he was “delighted to be here in Toulouse and eager to start the competition”. "We will be able to see that the level has increased enormously compared to last year," he said.

“There may be surprises”

Padel Magazine : A certain Max Moreau told us that there would be surprises. What do you think ?

Benjamin Tison : “I had announced a surprise Inzerillo / Forcin, but we risk playing them in the quarter, so I hope I was wrong about my forecast. They are also unlucky with the draw, because they should play against François (Authier) and Justin (Lopes) in the second round. I indeed think that there may be little surprises because exits are not authorized before the finals and there is not much height. These are things that level and reduce the gaps.”

“My partner didn't have a great attitude”

PM: How is your form?

BT : “I feel in great shape. Internationally, with Martin Sanchez Piñeiro, we could have done better. But for the moment, the results do not follow. It's a bit harsh, but at least I'm fresh. I'm going to miss the next tournament World Padel Tour because I should have played this Sunday and we could not find common ground between the FFT and the WPT to shift.

Future, priority to World Padel Tour

“It's a big bad news for me because I'm sure to come out of the top 60 as a result of this tournament. It's a bit of a blow, but for me, this year, the priority was France, because I'm with Jo [Bergeron] as a pair. I must admit that if it was an individual tournament, I wouldn't be there, but out of respect for Jo, I wasn't going to say “goodbye” to him 15 days before this championship. But it is possible that this will be my last French championship. In the future, France will no longer have priority over the World Padel Tour. My goal is to be as high as possible on the WPT.”

“Between the internship with the French team, the French championship and the world championship with the French team, at the same time as a challenger, that's still three missed tournaments, it's huge. If I can do both, I will do both, but here…”

“In any case, I am very impatient to play here, I find that the level is constantly increasing in France – I particularly found the level of the 12 players in the selection camp for the France team to be very good. After the first round, the level tightens and everyone has a shot to play and create surprises.
