Bastien Blanqué and Thomas Leygue proclaimed themselves Champions of France de padel yesterday in Toulouse. The two players return to the final at the microphone of Mario Cordero.

We dictated our game

Padel Magazine : Bastien Blanqué, a 4th title of champion of France, Thomas Leygue, youngest champion of France in history! How do you feel ?

Bastien Blanqué:"We started our match very well and we dictated our game well. I hit very well with many par 3s while being aggressive. We had a tactically perfect match and we listened to each other a lot. We also put a lot of intensity. The final tie-break was exceptional, with crazy points and a great atmosphere. We are super happy.”

Padel Magazine : Despite the atmosphere, you didn't really want to play a 3rd set...

Thomas Leygue :“I confirm that! If we lost this tie-break with match points, the probability that they would raise their level and that we would have a slack was high. It would have been 70/30 on a third. They defended match points very well and I tried to consider that I hadn't made any mistakes on those points. There was a lot of fair play on contentious moments, so kudos to Ben and Jo for that too.”

beautiful ambassadors

Padel Magazine : At 7-7 in the tie-break, the 4 players showed great fair play by deciding to return two balls without being frustrated. You are great ambassadors of padel in France.

Bastien Blanqué "For example Jo touched the ball twice on a block, and he says it right away. I'm going on a long line I say… We know that with Jo and Ben there won't be any problem. We don't need that to win the game. It is true that it gets a little heated in the stands, but on the ground there was no animosity.

The “Clasico” of padel French

Padel Magazine : One everywhere in the final of the French Championships against Jo and Ben. We hope to see the beauty next season. Will you still be together?

Thomas Leygue :“I want a beauty. I think they want it too. I called this match the “Clasico” on social networks because it's true that since we've been associated, we've played all the finals against them, except during a tournament. The beauty, we hope next year!”

Padel Magazine : We hope this puts you on the right track for the World Championships in Dubai.

Bastien Blanqué:"Yes, and there is also Mexico (Editor's note: the Premier Padel Mexico Major) which will happen. We are leaving for Dubai on Wednesday morning.”

Thomas Leygue :“We must remember that Ben Tison is the best French player, because he is the one who performs best internationally. He deserves the title as much as we do, and last year we deserved the title as much as they did. I want to thank everyone who supported us.”
