When we embark on the adventure of a club padel, we necessarily go through the box “land builders of padel”. How do you make a field of padel ? How do you choose it? Although the French Tennis Federation has issued a certificate (Quality Plan Padel), although there are other standards related to the International Federation of Padel, there are points that should never be overlooked.

The most difficult thing when we start building land is not doing it, but doing it well. This way, you will avoid additional fees and be more competitive. The important points are:

The screed or the floor

It is clear that you can save on the screed. But a poorly made screed will cause you more trouble later. Problems with water evacuation, bad bounces and carpet making hollows or bubbles are the most common concerns.

The structure

Most structures are good. It is especially important to pay attention to the anchor points on the ground, especially if the grounds are outdoors. The wind, the rain and the thermal differences will be right of your bad points of fixation.

Always for outdoor terrain prefer galvanized steel or aluminum structures that will withstand oxidation better.

Regarding the friction zone between the steel and the windows, remember to check that a neoprene part comes to separate the two. Broken glass is expensive.

Windows

There are two types of window thickness, 10 or 12mm. Little difference in the game. By cons be attentive to the fixation. Plastic coated stainless steel screws for friction, tightened with brake nuts will be the best option. Avoid nylon screws that do not resist changes in temperature.

Carpet

Several types exist but all are good as long as they are between 12 and 15mm thick. Be careful: the thicker it is, the more sand you have to add.

Currently clubs prefer the monofilament because it is used at a high level. It is also more expensive. The difference in the game is not very noticeable, good maintenance will suffice.

Lighting

4 spots from 400W or their equivalent Led will do the trick. If the budget allows you go to 8 spots.

Most structures include the lighting poles. They have evolved over time but know that a player hitting the structure will move those poles. You have the possibility of detaching them from the field.

The net

The posts must be outside the boundaries of the field, with a vertical tensioner without crank to avoid bad shots in the legs. The net will be without knots or central inking point.
