Qualified after a victory in 3 sets (4-6 6-0 6-2) against Loïc Le Panse and Nico Trancart, the seeded number 2 pockets the first ticket for the final of this 2022 edition of the French championships.

A tense 1st set…and a surprise

Bastien Blanqué and Thomas Leygue, seeded number 2 in this competition, were the favorites for this meeting. However, it was also certain that the pair Le Panse / Trancart did not come to do figuration. Haloed by their status as outsiders, the two men did not seem timorous at the start of the meeting.

It's even quite the opposite: they managed to take the service of their opponents twice in the first set (losing their advantage the first time, before keeping it until the end of the set)! Opposite, Bastien and Thomas did not play badly but they were often outplayed on important points by their opponents.

And this tenacity was also seen through a few contentious points at the end of the set, which did not fail to crystallize the tension weighing on this meeting. With the high point, this set point won by Loïc and Nico but which was contested by Thomas and Bastien, creating an extremely confused situation between their players.

Score of the set: 6-4 Le Panse / Trancart

2nd set: Blanqué/Leygue set the record straight

The awakening was brutal. Leaving the annoyance on the chair, the Blanqué / Leygue pair returned with better intentions. We can say that the steamroller started gradually.

As for Nico Trancart and Loïc Le Panse, the drop in intensity was substantial. No longer able to really hang on, the two men could no longer find the solutions on the track. One way, Thomas and Bastien pocketed the set without losing the slightest game.

Score of the set: 6-0 Blanqué / Leygue

3rd set: Blanqué/Leygue with style

In appearance, the 3rd and 2nd sets were almost similar. The Blanqué / Leygue pair continued to gain momentum, while the Trancart / Le Panse pair opposite seemed to suffer more and more and no longer find the resources necessary to reverse the trend.

Solid and sure of their strength, Bastien and Thomas will have lost only two small games in the 3rd round before pocketing the set and the final victory.

Final score: 4-6 6-0 6-2 Blanqué / Leygue
