Federico Chingotto is in the process of adapting after his separation from Juan Tello. The Argentinian explains himself at the microphone of Padel Magazine for Monterrey and the Major of Premier Padel.

The separation was difficult

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Are the facilities of this Major at the level of the 3 other Majors of the season?

Federico Chingotto:"I think so. All facilities are completely up to par with this tournament. The work of the whole team of Premier Padel is always very very good.”

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Your separation from Juan Tello dynamited the circuit. How does it feel to play with someone else after so much time with Juan?

Federico Chingotto:"It's very difficult. I'm still trying to adapt. We had been playing with our style of play for a very long time, with very marked sequences of play that we knew by heart. Little by little with Javi Garrido we take our marks and we become a dangerous pair.

Improve myself

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: On a personal level, do you think that this separation allows you to find new points on which to work that you did not see before with this famous style of play with Juan?

Federico Chingotto:“Yeah, and that's why we broke up. We were looking to improve ourselves by performing in another way. Try to perform better on a personal level. I think it will be good for both to progress.”

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: On what points do you feel you can improve?

Federico Chingotto:“I think I can improve on many points. In defense I would like to correct some movements, in attack I work a lot on my smash, and also on the other shots to be more offensive. I'm looking to improve myself.”

What I ask Garrido

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Will the project with Garrido continue in 2023?

Federico Chingotto:“We haven't really spoken yet but I think so. Of course, I will have to meet with my coaches to see what is the best decision for me.

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: What do you like about Garrido?

Federico Chingotto:“Javi has a lot of qualities. He is a very explosive player. I think he has to cover a lot of ground with his physical qualities, because when he does he puts a lot of pressure on the opponents. That's what I ask of him when we play."

Wear is important

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: The days pass and it seems that the WPT will continue and that Premier Padel will organize a minimum of 8 tournaments next year. Are you ready to play another season so physically and mentally demanding?

Federico Chingotto:“We are talking about it. This season, the change was very big with so many tournaments and it was hard. We will try to prepare for that. It's very tough mentally. I feel that at the end of the season it's more difficult than usual. I want it to end, find my family. Wear and tear is important and all players go through that.”

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: What are the things you want to pass on to young people?

Federico Chingotto:“I try to pass on what my family instilled in me. Always fight, responsibilities, perseverance. Everything is doable. I'm small in stature but you always have to fight because we can get there. Even if you failed to be number 1, if you gave 100%, the heart is filled. You can go to sleep in peace.”
