Back indoors in Valencia in the magnificent Pavelló Font De Sant Lluís after the outdoor tournament in Valladolid. Sun, sea and a temperature of 32 degrees: once again, all the conditions were met for this stage of the World Padel Tour ! The public came in large numbers all week, as stated by "Air Stupa" during the final, and spectators were able to attend some masterpieces during this week!

The "Coach Zorrus" offers us a summary of the tops and flops of the tournament.

The tournament game

Sanz and Galan who eliminate Coello / Tapia in the semi-finals after an exceptional match in terms of suspense and game! So beautiful and fair that we would have thought we were in an exhibition match, as evidenced in particular by this crazy point at 5 everywhere 15/30 in the second set!

This is for me THE match of this beginning of the season!!!

FLOPS

  1. Momo Gonzalez and Sanyo Gutiérrez: what's the problem?
  2. Bela and Yanguas with another loss in the quarter-finals. How hard it becomes for “el Maestro”!
  3. Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez eliminated in the round of 8 !

TOPS

1. Léa Godallier who reaches her first quarter-final on a WPT. We want more. Congratulation !

2. The pair of the moment: Stupa / Di Nenno, with a 4ᵉ victory in 2023, the third in a row!

3. Jon Sanz for his state of mind and his level of play throughout the tournament! Even if the semi-final physically left traces, we notice that the Navarrese has made enormous progress during these four tournaments with Galan!

4. Chingotto and Paquito: 7/5 7/6 defeat against Stupa and Di Nenno in the quarter-finals, but what a match! We have found the Paquito that we like to see!

The finals movie

Among the ladies, despite some doubts up to 3/3 in the first, there was no suspense as to the outcome of the match: Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaría smothered and outclassed Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay by not never leaving the game both technically and tactically. There was no photo!

Among the men, we expected a great final with the Superpibes against the surprise pair Sanz / Galan. It was not the case. Exactly as with the girls, there wasn't really a match, so Stupa and Di Nenno dominated the subject from start to finish. Despite some points of gold which could perhaps have come to change the course of the match, the meeting was generally one-sided. Indeed, it only took two sets for the Superpibes to achieve the hat-trick. And the Argentinians are making their best start to the season together on the World Padel Tour !
