Come on Aficionados, direction Doha for this second stage of the circuit Premier Padel in 2024!

We suspected it a little, but still... two 2024 tournaments on the circuit Premier Padel and beyond the surprising results at the start of the season, it is above all the attitude of certain players which raises questions!

Between those who give the impression of swinging their matches, those who are hot-blooded, those who stake their lives at every point and those who seem to be on vacation, there is a lot to say about this Doha tournament!

As per usual, "Coach Zorrus” offers us his analysis of the tournament.

The point of the tournament

We continue this season by honoring the man who is certainly the best in the world currently, Mr. Agustin Tapia, who delighted us with this volley in the semi-final against Paquito and Sanyo: “que talento”!

The red card

Ah, something new this year! Hi Juan Lebron « welcome » in the new section with this ball hit near Mike Yanguas' head! Frankly, it's ugly, it has nothing to do on a field of padel and the public didn't like it at all. El lobo will make friends again ... Well, we're not going to lie but our friend Mike Yanguas is still in the game... To be continued.

FLOPS

1 – Brea / Gonzalez: defeat in the ¼ final with a slight impression of abandonment in the 3rd set, weird weird…

2 – Ustero / Alonso: we may be expecting a little too much from Pablo Ayma’s young protégés but there is so much potential!

3 – Come on blues: we want to see you in these tables of 64 pairs! Among the men, not a single match won in qualifying, it's tough.

4 – Bela / Capra: heavy defeat for the “master” in the 1/8th final, could his last season become the most “painful” of his career?

TOPS

1 – Yanguas / Garrido solid in the first 2 tournaments: coup or a hope of seeing them regularly at this level?

2 – Claudia Fernandez: certainly, she is very well supported but a major final at 18 years old, there is only one thing to say “respect mademoiselle”!

3 – Salazar / Icardo: despite her 38 years, the “queen” Alejandra Salazar is still there and we will have to count on her again this year!

4 – And of course Coello / Tapia: the most consistent pair since the start of the season in the Top 3.

The finals movie

Among the ladies, we expected a new confrontation between the former world number 1 Gemma Triay and her brand new and very young partner Claudia Fernandez and the current numbers 1. But in view of the result, there is no doubt that this team must have been caught up in the challenge. Results, as with the boys: not much to say except that the Ari Sanchez / Paula Josemaría pair confirms their great start to the season!

For the men, we will speak frankly, it was a very disappointing final. On one side the two aliens (Coello and Tapia) are crushing the rest of the world and the universe at the moment and on the other side the Yanguas / Garrido pair have therefore taken the “super tempestad”! Not sure there's anything else to say about this one-sided finale.

Come on, bye bye the Asian continent and we’re leaving “under the Mexico sun”
