Federico Chingotto, also nicknamed “Super Raton” (Super Mouse) got caught up in the question-and-answer game with our journalist during an exclusive interview for Padel Magazine.

The 25-year-old Argentinian, who qualified for the grand final du Greenweez Paris Premier Padel Major, confided in our microphone on his feeling of playing in a stadium as legendary as Roland-Garros but also on his partnership with Juan Tello.

“We are improving mentally every day”

“From the first moments I felt a special strength on the Philippe-Chatrier court, in addition to a certain pressure because it is still the central court, with an increasingly large audience. We enjoy a lot and the more the days pass the more we feel comfortable here.

I haven't really taken advantage of the city yet because I try to rest as much as possible and stay focused, but when I have some time I go for a walk. I went to see the Eiffel Tower.

“We have great rivals. All players progress as the days pass. It's been several years now that we meet on the circuit so we all know each other, sometimes it is easier for each other to know how to get in the way. But I would say the most important thing is the experience we gain each season. I feel that we are improving mentally and we want to continue to give our best. "

“A cold celebration”

“We can appear cold as for example on the celebration of our victory today. Of course we were happy with the outcome of the meeting but we are trying to stay on course. For me the most important thing is to improve mentally, to manage to put in place tactics during the match with Gaby Reca who accompanies us on the bench.

A popular player

“I think that if people or children like me it's because they see me as little like them (laughs). No, joking aside, it's true that I hear a lot of encouragement for me and I'm very happy about it. It gives me great pleasure. A big thank you to all."

"It's true that in Italy a lot of people called me and shouted my name, I'm not going to lie to you, it's fun, and since I was little I wanted to become a great sportsman, that's why I do everything to give the best example to all these young people."

A complementary pair

“Juan is more calm, reserved than me. I am quite the opposite, I am always laughing or annoying people. On the other hand, the major point on which we complement each other is this desire to always be better, the discipline that we impose on ourselves on a daily basis.”

As we point out to the Argentinian, it is very difficult for us to approach Juan Tello because at first glance he seems cold and not inclined to discussion. But fortunately Federico Chingotto gives us some advice to appease “El Gato”.

“Indeed he is very shy, but go little by little, gently and he will open up a little more”.

An inseparable pair?

Since 2016, the year of their association, Federico Chingotto and Juan Tello have not let go. The Argentinian pair is one of those emblematic pairs due to the friendship and loyalty that reign between the two men. So much so that the “aficionados” hope to see them end their career together.

“We get along really well, we improve every day that passes on the 20×10 and we manage to achieve certain objectives so yes I see myself finishing my career with Juan”.
