Benjamin Tison, alongside his partner Aitor Garcia, lost during the semi-finals of the FIP Rise in Bourg-en-Bresse. A quick match, won easily by the Spaniards Javier Martinez and Enrique Goenaga (TS1). At the end of this meeting, the Frenchman returned to his match, without tongue in cheek, with a very critical analysis of his performance:

“In defense, we never managed to be comfortable”

It’s clear that they played very well. When they put 6/4 6/0, there's not much to complain about. We played very badly, that too must be said. We didn't start that badly on offense. In defense, we never managed to be comfortable. The problem in our game is that it is based a lot on lobbing the right player. But today, we couldn't because it comes out a lot and I knew that before the match.

We tried to lob Javi [Martinez] but he was very good today as Enri [Goenaga] said. And we failed to use the public. I am especially disgusted because I would have liked to have done much more for the public and the event. Missing a match like that hurts. But hey, that’s the life of an athlete. There are great victories, good moments.

I had a great time with Aitor during these three days despite everything. That doesn't mean we won't give everything to Milan to try to end the year on a better note than in that match.

BEN TISON AITOR GARCIA FIP RISE BOURG EN BRESSE

“We were well below”

Enri, we can't lob him but the one who has a huge match for me is Javi. He didn't make a mistake, he made 25 winning points, he lobbed me perfectly parallel, he lobbed Aitor crosswise. Even when Aitor followed him, he blocked pretty well, he took the net again. It’s certain that with a guy next to you that you can’t lob…

I'm disappointed because we couldn't find solutions, we didn't know what to do. We were well below. I think that in addition, to compete with such a good pair, we at least have to play well. But we didn't manage to play well. It's always annoying, especially when it happens in France.

But hey, there was a great room, a great audience. But hey, you can't play well every time, or win every time. They were much, much stronger than us. We didn't know how to live up to it.

“I became a real player of padel, I like slow surfaces…”

I am like that, I am natural and in the field I rarely hide. Today I was frustrated because they were three times stronger than us. And that we weren't playing well. When it's us, I'm talking about us, the team.

I attacked very badly. On the game where we get broken, I miss two smashes. I think if you don't get broken, it's not the same. At 5-4, it still frees them. They started playing from then on. There are lots of little details that you shouldn't do. In this game, I miss two smashes that are really easy. I was a little less in shape, a little less well.

Given our style of play, it's not a surface for us anyway. We can't make the points last. It's good, it's that I became a real player of padel, I like slow surfaces…

Gwenaelle Souyri

It was his brother who one day told him to accompany him on a track. padel, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the broadcast of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
