The French pair Jessica Ginier and Lucile Pothier achieved a superb performance this Sunday by winning the A1Padel French Open 2023 as it came out of pre-qualifying.

We're not going to go back the final, led to perfection by our French women, but highlight some figures that show the mentality of these two players and the new opportunities in 2023.

11 out of 14!

First are the queens of gold points (puntos de oro). Over the last two days, 11 gold points have been won out of the 14 obtained. Regularity on the important points which made the difference, especially in the semi-finals.

Incidentally, it should be noted that the French won 5 out of 7 matches in 3 sets.

The Master Final for the French pair?

Yes, they explained that for the moment, they weren't really focused on Fabrice Pastor's circuit, without however refraining from competing in a few stages.

Except that with a victory in an Open, the French garner 1000 points. Clearly, in a single tournament, they will be part of the top 20 of the A1 rankingPadel.

Taking into account the points obtained by the other players in the tournament this week, the top 20 is within reach.

As Mario Cordero, commentator of Padel Magazine TV: “For Ginier / Pothier, it's an opportunity to have new goals this year and to try a few stages in this circuit to be part of the Master's players."

Potential Stages

At least 4 stages could be included in their calendar:

  • May 22 to 28 in Italy
  • June 5 to 11 in Monaco
  • August 14 to 20 in Switzerland
  • September 4 to 10 in Tenerife

And it pays off!

Even if the number 1 of the A1 rankingPadel certainly did not deliver their best match on Sunday, the French can be confident for the rest in 2023.

Financially, it is also interesting, since they pocket 2200€ each.

We hope to see them continue the adventure and why not participate in the Master Final.
