Interview with Hubert Picquier, elected in charge of padel for the French Tennis Federation.

  • The FFT relies heavily on padel ?

The French Federation believes in padel. And she's showing it every day in the field since 2018.

Last year, the French Tennis Federation decided to invest much more in the padel by helping tennis clubs to build padel. Our league centers will have 2 fields of padel. We also offer a national circuit, the FFT PADEL TOUR, an elite circuit that will pass through public squares. In 2019, the circuit will pass through 3 public squares. We are professionalizing the discipline in France while boosting the development of padel for the general public.

  • Le padel at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, is it possible?

We believe in it but it is not the priority of the FFT. Before talking about the Olympic Games, we must talk about the development of the padel in France, in our clubs and allow this sport to be known to the general public.

Le padel at the Olympic Games, it's ambitious. But everything remains to be done. First, we must think about the present moment: The development of this sport in France, frame it and professionalize it. Then depending on the result, we can think about the next step.
