La “City of Padel", an ambitious sports complex project in Oeiras in Portugal supported by football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, is already the subject of heated discussions in the local community of Linda-a-Velha. It's the media Dioguinho who informs us.

A year after the approval of the project by the municipality of Oeiras, residents are expressing their concerns about the expected increase in traffic and noise, as well as possible transgressions of urban planning regulations.

Although the project promises to revitalize the sporting offer with its 17 grounds, the final approval of the private consortium (Ronaldo is a shareholder) is still pending, leaving room for a climate of uncertainty. “According to information from the services, the file is still under examination,” confides a municipal source to the Portuguese media, emphasizing the imminence of a final decision.

Faced with protests, the Portuguese Federation of Padel, involved in the award of the project, defends the initiative, arguing that the noise from the land is much less than that from urban traffic. However, this defense does little to allay the fears of residents, concerned about preserving their living environment.

The “City of Padel” will perhaps see the light of day... but the municipality and the private consortium will have to find common ground to reconcile sports development and respect for the urban environment.
