We keep repeating it: many professional athletes are addicted to padel. Former Scottish international rugby player Max Evans is no exception.

Castres Olympique fans inevitably remember Max Evans, the Scottish international winger which evolved under the colors of the Tarn club between 2011 and 2015. The one who wore the thistle-struck jersey 44 times, is also a big fan of padel.

Interviewed by our colleagues from Tennis365, the former rugby player is one of those many former professional athletes who feast on the slopes of padel. As proof, he often shares the track with John Terry, the former England international footballer: “I play a lot with John Terry, he's really fascinated by the padel, that's kind of what happens to anyone who tries this sport! ”

For Max, the padel is more accessible than tennis : “What got me hooked with the padel it's the fact that you can progress quickly if you have proper hand-eye coordination. It's not as technical as tennis. The basics of the sport are like what you can do on the sand with a beach racket. You have to keep the ball alive and you can have long rallies very quickly, which is impossible at first when you start tennis. ”

For Evans, 37 years old and retired for almost 5 years, the padel is in a way a new youth : “All my life, my days were punctuated by training. When it stops, you feel a little lost at the beginning. Then I fell in love with padel, a sport that I discovered in Portugal, and it re-motivated me! ”

For him, the padel a beautiful days ahead of him : “In Spain, the padel is more popular than tennis. It's still remarkable in a country that has some of the best tennis players in the world, including of course world star Rafael Nadal! It is a physical and interesting sport for those who want to exercise. It's more fun to play sports with your friends while having fun, rather than going to the gym or running on a mat. The padel is addictive, and many will find it easier. ”
