We learn through the site Mr. Padel Paddle boarding that padel continues to explode in Italy with the construction of 564 new pitches during the 1st quarter of 2023. Fever padel does not descend on the transalpine side with this new increase of 8% of the tracks in the territory.

The regions most affected by the “virus” during this 1st quarter are Lombardy and Lazio with respectively 124 and 123 new leads. The province of Rome remains far ahead in the ranking of the number of pitches with 1373 now, ahead of those of Milan (388) and Turin (319).

This evolution took place during the winter period, and it is accompanied by another statistic: the percentage of covered slopes in Italy has gone from 32 to 37%. Of the 586 indoor pitches identified in the space of a few months, 205 come from new clubs, while 381 relate to existing tracks which have been covered subsequently.

If “only” 127 structures appeared during this period – against 200 on average over the last eight quarters, we can notice the desire to set up facilities hosting at least four pitches. In addition, more than 13 new clubs have an average number of pitches above eight.

Bureaucratic and administrative constraints (building permits), financing problems (energy bill) and the end of the Covid effect do not make it possible to maintain the infernal pace of previous months, but we can clearly see that growth is still there and that THE padel is establishing itself throughout the territory and is taking more and more place as a popular amateur sport.
