The 7rd edition of Z-Event which took place from September 9 to 12, will have put padel in the spotlight for the first time.

What is the Z Event?

The Z Event is a charity project created by Adrien Nougaret (known as ZeratoR) and Alexandre Dachary (known as Dach) with the objective of bringing together French-speaking streamers in order to collect donations to support a charity.

During this 2022 edition, they will have collected more than 10 million euros for the benefit of Amnesty International. For the little anecdote , since 2019, the Z Event has held the world record for the charity event having raised the most money on Twitch. 

 But how did padel end up at Z Event?  

It's thanks to the Twitch streamer and videographer  Sunday , who is one of the main protagonists of the event and a fan of padel. The latter decided to organize a game with his lifelong partner  xari  (stream) against  Jbzzed  (stream) and  Lebouseuh  (youtuber).

 The participants in numbers  

 Sunday  : 1,5 million followers on Twitch (10k sub) / YouTube replay channel: 750k subscribers

 Lebouseuh  : 6 million subscribers on YouTube

 Jbzzed  : 500K Twitch followers / 827k YouTube subscribers

 xari  : 400k Twitch followers

Behind the scenes of this Z Event padel session

 Yoann Rubele, the Padel manager of the Temple of Sport of Lunel, where the event took place, gives us some behind-the-scenes details about the Z Event: 

" To organize this game Domingo contacted the clubs in the region by email. I responded very quickly to see the feasibility of this project. Since I am a connoisseur of this medium of the stream, the contact was made naturally and the project was quickly validated.

A realization came to do a scouting in our club and set up a professional technical installation on D-Day to have the best possible result!"

Yoann also agreed to share with us some key figures demonstrating the existing enthusiasm around the Z Event and the visibility that “this simple stream” was able to give to padel:

“At 14:30 p.m. on Saturday 10, the stream began with an introduction to the sport and the rules by Yoann in front of more than 70 viewers.

Then the showmatch started with Team Pax (Domingo and Xari) VS Jbzed and Lebouseuh: victory 6/3-6/4 for the PAX team in front of an average of 65k viewers

Behind was an exhibition super-tie with Arthur Hugounenq, Clément Codron, Julien Verdon and myself.

The feedback from the Twitch chat has been very positive! Many viewers discovered this sport and commented that they wanted to play this incredible sport.

 The Replay of this stream has also reached 1,2M views today!  "

In short, Yoann is enthusiastic about the benefits that padel has received.  “thanks” to the Z Event:  

"Reaching at least 70K people (or even more with the renewal of viewers) live by broadcasting our sport is an extraordinary publicity stunt. Seeing these public figures with millions of followers associate themselves with padel can only be beneficial!

In my opinion, on this Saturday, September 10, padel experienced a good boost in its emergence in France! It's a happening to be repeated more often!

It is obvious that having padel at the Z Event is an unprecedented boost for our sport. Indeed, we are hopeful that the many viewers who had fun behind their screens watching the match will decide to try the activity very soon. It would therefore be a very big victory for padel.
