Le World Padel Tour celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, and since 2013, ten players have reached the top of this prestigious circuit. We present to you today the ten men who have donned the costume of boss of the circuit during the last decade.

Fernando Belasteguin (2013-2018)

The "Boss" is now considered the greatest player in history. And before the World Padel Tour was created, Belasteguin already dominated the padel worldwide for more than a decade with Juan Martin Diaz.

The Argentinian who celebrated his 44th birthday last week had the same success with Pablo Lima from 2015 to 2018, for a total of around fifteen years of unchallenged reign over the discipline. Even if he is no longer the boss of the circuit today, he continues to be very competitive, regardless of his partner.

Juan Martin Diaz (2013-2015)

The "lord of reflexes" was Bela's partner for many years of domination. Together they were the duo that took the padel to another level and were the first to cement what the padel modern. After his separation from the Boss in 2015, “El Galleguito” no longer experienced the heights on the World Padel Tour.

Juani Meres (2014)

Mieres may be one of the most unexpected players on this list, but he did rise to that prestigious world number 1 spot for a short time during his partnership with Pablo Lima. The Argentinian then linked up with Juan Martin Diaz after 2015, without any real success.

Pablo Lima (2014/2015-2018)

After this short period at the top with Juani Mieres, Pablo Lima experienced the pinnacle alongside Fernando Belasteguin from 2015 to 2018. Four seasons in which the Brazilian established himself as one of the best players of all time. Since then, he has had several partners without ever returning to the number 1 spot. Lima is playing its last season this year on the World Padel Tour.

Maxi Sanchez (2018)

Maxi Sanchez is one of the players who put an end to the domination of Fernando Belasteguin. The Argentinian had a great 2018 in the company of his partner - who we'll talk about later. The “Shark” was going to last as number 1, but another duo turned everything upside down the following year.

Sanyo Gutierrez (2018)

For a hundred small points behind his partner Maxi Sanchez, Sanyo Gutierrez had to wait a little longer to officially become the best player in the world. The Magician still continues today to keep his place in the Top 10 without any problem, but he has not yet managed to find the Grail.

Juan LeBron (2019-2023)

By becoming world number 1 in 2019, Juan Lebron became the first European player and the first player born in Spain to ascend to the throne. The Cadiz native was able to achieve this feat alongside Paquito Navarro when he was 24 years old.

El Lobo eventually parted ways with his partner to find another compatriot and continue his dominance with Alejandro Galan. The two men have been crushing the competition since 2020 by winning many titles.

Paquito Navarro (2019)

One of the most charismatic players World Padel Tour has known. Francisco Navarro has long chased the number 1 spot, until he reached his dream in 2019 with Lebron. However, the paths of the two strong-willed men separated, and the Sevillian took longer to recover than his Andalusian colleague.

Paquito came close to taking over the reins of the circuit with the young Martin Di Nenno in 2021, but a defeat in the semi-finals of the Barcelona Master Final dashed the hopes of the Spaniard, still in the Top 10 today.

Ale Galan (2020-2023)

Already brilliant alongside Pablo Lima in 2019, Ale Galan totally revealed himself to fans around the world from the start of his partnership with Juan Lebron. The two men have taken their sport to a new level by offering an aggressive game and unparalleled physical intensity in defense.

The hegemony of Lebron and Galan has come to a halt this year, but Mariano Amat's players are likely to enjoy many more successes in the years to come.

Agustin Tapia (2023)

Last to arrive on this list, Agustin Tapia, now associated with Arturo Coello, turned the established order upside down this year by making an exceptional start to the season with seven trophies in seven tournaments played. Invincible in 2023, the Argentinian has logically climbed to the top of the ladder, but without his partner who, for the moment, is a few points behind.

The Mozart of Catamarca has had the chance to evolve alongside many great players, and he is now reaching maturity with the prodigy Arturo Coello. The two men are serious candidates to take over from their elders who managed to dominate the padel global for years.

NB: Tapia is not currently the world number one individually, but his partner Arturo Coello.

Martin Schmuda

A competitive tennis player, Martin discovered the padel in 2015 in Alsace and appeared in a few tournaments in Paris. Today a journalist, he deals with current affairs padel while continuing its rise in the world of the little yellow ball!
