Paquito Navarro and Pablo Lima could not dream of a better start. Indeed, the grand finale of the WPT Bilbao 2018 was protagonists Paquito Navarro and Pablo Lima against Miguel Lamperti and Juani Mieres.

Three games were enough to allow Paquito and Pablo to reach their first final together on the WPT. They demonstrated spectacular aggression and complementarity for this first tournament. Their opponents Lamperti and Mieres took on the challenge of winning the title for the second time.

Paquito and Pablo reached the final after defeating Franco Stupaczuk and Cristian Gutiérrez in two sets (6 / 1 7 / 6).

To make a quick summary of the final, both pairs were very focused from the start, and the offensives of the future winners were well controlled by Lamperti and Mieres. The new pair waited for the right moment, and they pulled off a decisive break. They then secured their stake to afford the first set: 6/4.

In the second set, Navarro and Lima continued in the same vein as the end of the first set, so they managed to come off quickly. Lamperti and Mieres did not want to loose the score too quickly, but they failed to make the break that would have allowed them to return to the game. Final score 6 / 4 6 / 3.

After the final in the men's category, it was the women's turn to enter the field. The final pitted Alejandra Salazar and Marta Marrero against the world number one pair: Majo and Mapi Sanchez Alayeto.

Both pairs had made semifinals of very high level, winning widely. Marrero and Salazar defeated Gemma Triay and Lucia Sainz on 6 / 2 6 / 2. And binoculars Sanchez Alayeto won 6 / 3 6 / 1 against Martita Ortega and Ariana Sanchez.

That's why, we thought the final was very balanced, and it was so. Indeed, over the last 8 events, these two pairs have shared the titles of the last events (5 for the twins and 3 for Salazar / Marrero).

To sum up, the women's final, Salazar and Marrero managed to quickly break up to lead 4 / 1. Continuing their momentum, they broke again to lead 5 / 1 in the first set. The binoculars Sanchez Alayeto had a burst of pride and his income to 5 / 3. But Salazar and Marrero held their game of service which allowed them to win the first round 6 / 3.

In the second set, it was almost the same scenario, but in reverse. Indeed, Mapi and Majo Sanchez Alayeto quickly led 3/0, then they made another break: 4/1. Then they held their service games, so they won the second set 6/2.

In the third and final set, Salazar and Marrero break entry and lead 2/0, but are immediately joined by the twins: 2/2. The set was very close until the Marrero - Salazar pair broke in the ninth game, and confirmed this break to claim the title at WPT Bilbao 2018.
