This is a mobilization that will warm the hearts of those concerned, in this case the six players who form the French team of padel-armchair: Dorian Navarro, Serge Garnier, Nicolas Vanlerberghe, Sébastien Husser, Tony Boval and Jean-Marc Keghlian.

As the first worlds of the discipline begin this Thursday in Madrid, they received strong encouragement from around fifteen of the best French players, in the form of video pellets.

No international competition before summer 2022

These top players include Benjamin Tison, Alix Collombon, Adrien Maigret, Jean Dumartin, Lilian Fouré, Charlotte Soubrié, Elodie Invernon, Max Moreau, Quentin Ayuso, Thomas Mitjana, Jessica Ginier, Mélissa Martin, Laura Clergue, Nastasia Boitier Legourd, Marine Fontaine and a few others that we may be forgetting – sorry to them.

But others still risk mobilizing for the beautiful and noble cause of padel in a wheelchair, which progresses with great turns of the wheels. Until last August, there had never been an international competition bringing together players with disabilities from different countries. It was France that got the ball rolling by organizing a first international tournament at Le Mans, with several of the best Spanish players.

The Spanish Handisport Federation has taken up the ball again by inviting many countries this year to take part in the world premieres of padel-armchair, from May 11 to 14 in Madrid. In addition to Spain, seven countries responded to the invitation: France, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Belgium, the Netherlands and Morocco.

First game against Morocco

On the competition side, France is in pool A and will start its Worlds this Friday at 17 p.m. against Morocco, before facing Spain (at 10:30 a.m.) and Costa Rica (16:30 p.m.) on Saturday.

The objective is of course to qualify to then compete for 1st or 3rd place, or failing that, 5th.
