Bastien Blanqué and Dylan Guichard were so close to their first big performance together on the professional circuit! Indeed, the French did not go far from offering themselves the scalp of Mario Huete (98 FIP) / Cristian Gutierrez (48 FIP) and obtaining a ticket for the 2nd round of Mendoza Premier Padel P1… In the end, they lost in 3 sets: 6/4 3/6 7/6.

A hooked match from the start

The French are in their game. Despite the loss of the first set 6/4, they return to one round everywhere: 6/3. The 3ᵉ set is unbreathable. We see arms that tremble, but do not bend. The French achieve incredible points. We even see them fly away in this 3ᵉ set to lead 5/3… And yet, the Hispano-Argentinian pair recovers to 5 everywhere. Without getting any break points, the French are once again 2 points from the match on the Argentinian's serve at 6/5, thanks in particular to some very nice volleys from Bastien Blanqué. But the Huete / Gutierrez pair is still in the race as it has been under high pressure since the start of the 3ᵉ set because of the large presence of the French.

An unbreathable tie-break

The tie break is very tense, but it is still the French who are racing ahead, they even go so far as to lead 4/1 then 5/3. But… once again Mario Huete and Cristian Gutierrez pick up and go on to bend the match definitively on their first match point, on yet another winning smash from the Spaniard: 7/5.

Of course the French can be proud of them. They have been perfect since the beginning of their Argentine adventure. And on this match, what to say… they had it in their hands. How many times have they been two points away from the game?

Hold on to the positive

So yes, today, all the fans are disappointed for them because we know that it will take a few days to digest this defeat.

The French pair will not offer themselves this prestigious match in the round of 16 against the seeded 4 of the tournament, Fede Chingotto / Paquito Navarro. But the Blues can be proud of themselves and above all keep the positive: the association works and we hope to see it still at work for a good while. A priori, it is something planned for the FIP Gold in Mexico in two weeks.

There is still a chance of seeing a Frenchman in the next round with Benjamin Tison and Victor Mena playing against Jairo Bautista / Juan Martin Diaz within 30 minutes. A match to follow live on chain Premier Padel.
